Love Thy Neighborhood Awards on April 27 Celebrates LISC’s 25th Anniversary
INDIANAPOLIS, March 17, 2017 – LISC Indianapolis is celebrating its 25th Anniversary with an awards program that recognizes community game changers in the Indy region. The Love Thy Neighborhood Awards will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 5:30 pm at the Indiana War Memorial. The Awards were created to encourage the transformation of neighborhoods throughout the Indy region into authentic and vibrant places profoundly attractive and livable for both residents and visitors.
This annual event will be glamorous, yet rooted in the authentic cultures of area neighborhoods. Five $5,000 awards will be given highlighting people, projects, initiatives, and organizations impacting specific neighborhoods. The awards have been organized around four categories: Livability, Opportunity, Vitality, and Education. The winner of each category will be announced at the event and will receive an unrestricted $5,000 award. In addition, a $5,000 People’s Choice Award will be awarded, determined by voting of event attendees. Of the more than 60 people and projects that applied, the following have been named as Love Thy Neighborhood Award finalists:

- Microloan Program, Flagship Enterprise Center
- Revitalization of Avondale Meadows
- Renew Indianapolis and the House Life Project
- Hamilton County Area Neighborhood Development Inc. (HAND)
- Teenworks Inc.
- SENSE Charter School
- Laurelwood After School Program
The Love Thy Neighborhood Awards gala will start at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 27 with a cocktail reception featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks provided by local entrepreneurs who have been impacted by LISC’s small business support including Bluebeard, La Margarita, Duos and more. This will be followed with attendees moving into the auditorium space for an hour-long awards ceremony. Tickets for this event are only $25 per person. Corporate packages are available.
