Supporting Transit: Next Steps

In November, Marion County voters approved the transit referendum by almost 60%.  What is the next step? Contact your City County Council member to let them know you support transit, and attend upcoming Council meetings. Two New Great Places Added

Great Places 2020 partners have selected two additional places to support four years of implementation. Twin Aire (intersection of English/Parker) 25th and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street Both will receive planning assistance to create a detailed redevelopment plan and funding for early implementation efforts in their target area. Great Places 2020: Request for Letters of Interest

LISC Indianapolis is asking Indianapolis neighborhood partners to submit a letter of interest for consideration by Sept. 30. The program is designed with a focus on effective placemaking and a vision for neighborhoods. Criteria for place selection is outlined on the Great Places 2020 website and includes the presence of a Quality of Life Plan, existing market activity, willing anchor institutions, nearby waterways or greenspaces, walkability and more. Support of Marion County Transit Plan

The Local Advisory Board of LISC Indianapolis has resolved to support the referendum on the Marion County Transit Plan. The benefit of transit-oriented development is transformative for Indianapolis neighborhoods, particularly the Great Places 2020 communities. 2015 LISC Indianapolis Annual Report

2015 a momentous year for LISC In 2015 LISC Indianapolis invested more than $15 million into Indianapolis neighborhoods in grants, loans, and equity. This supported 30 different non-profits, assisted 2,905 families and 102 businesses, built 91 homes, and improved 437,000 square feet of commercial space. We also support programs that enabled 528 family members to obtain jobs, over 500 families to increase their income, and the creation of 83 new neighborhood jobs. Great Places 2020 has joined forces with Patronicity to create a crowdfunding project in Englewood Village. A Retreat From The Concrete Jungle The Englewood Nature Playspace and Gardens is a beloved neighborhood asset, created over the last 15 years by and for neighbors, and in particular early childhood learners. It is a respite from the concrete and asphalt that dominates our neighborhood, and the only public greenspace in walking distance.
