Duos Expansion Means New Jobs and More Healthy Food

Duos opens a second kitchen, continues serving healthy meals and engaging community members  

This Tuesday, Duos founders Becky and David Hostetter and John Garnier celebrated the grand opening of their second permanent location at The Commonground, a brand new outdoor plaza at Eskenazi Health. Duos Kitchen is redefining gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian cuisine in Indianapolis, sporting a menu of locally grown ingredients infused with international flavors.

Duos began in 2010 as a food truck, serving healthy street food and engaging neighbors in urban community. Two years ago, the Hostetters and Garnier opened their flagship restaurant located at 2960 N. Meridian, in the heart of the Mid-North Quality of Life neighborhood. LISC co-investment and leveraging of funding resources in the Mid-North area has helped Duos finance expansion to the Eskenazi location, kitchen infrastructure and five full-time positions. LISC supported the expansion with a $15,000 grant through the FOCUS and Indy Food Council initiatives, thanks to support from Newman’s Own Foundation.

Whether chasing down the food truck or visiting one of their two kitchens, customers can enjoy a variety of meals from Quinoa Croquettes to Tofu Cacciatore and the company of fellow Indianapolis residents. Duos has experienced extraordinary success in increasing access to and building community around healthy, affordable and delicious food options.

“I’ve always had this feeling, that we need to create a sense of community and belonging,” says Becky – and that is what Duos will continue to do.
