The Clifton Square development Clifton Square, a new senior housing development in the Northwest area, celebrated its grand opening this month. The new development, located at the highly visible intersection of 30th Street and Clifton street, features 57 one and two-bedroom units, developed in two buildings connected by an architectural dramatic skywalk between the two buildings. the building on the northwest corner was formerly an old bank that last housed the now-defunct United Northwest Area Community Development Corporation. Monthly rents range from $266 to $543 for a one bedroom and from $319 to $630 for a two bedroom, depending upon income.
The development features 6,500 square feet of commercial space in the south wing ground level for a health and wellness center. The project was developed by BWI, LLC, a local firm focused on urban neighborhoods. BWI has been an active development advisor to the Northwest Area Quality of Life Plan. Gary Hobbs, its principal, is working to recruit health care providers such as Wishard Health Services and IU Health in addition to several physicians with private practices. Indianapolis LISC provided a $380,000 pre-development financing and subsidiary, the National Equity Fund, provided $9.5M in equity.
