Indianapolis, IN, January 20, 2015 – Indianapolis LISC is proud to announce that PNC has renewed its support of the FOCUS program. The FOCUS program – which stands for Fostering Commercial Urban Strategies – is designed to bolster economic opportunity in Indianapolis’s urban neighborhoods. The goal is to build long-lasting relationships that connect neighborhoods with businesses and other resources in a way that helps drive and support neighborhood revitalization.

PNC’s commitment will help revitalize growing neighborhoods in Indianapolis by improving commercial corridors for job creation, increased public safety, and a more robust and vibrant economic environment.  LISC will target East Washington Street and Mass Ave/Brookside industrial districts with this investment. LISC has begun to pilot these strategies and tools already on East Washington Street, where stakeholders have already created a district revitalization plan, which is now guiding efforts to assemble land and attract developers to the district. The lessons of this work will inform the deployment of tools in the Mass Ave/Brookside district.

“Commercial corridors and the business districts they support are a neighborhood’s lifeblood,” said Patricia Gamble-Moore, PNC manager of community development banking for Indiana.

“LISC programming aligns with our efforts to energize at-risk neighborhoods through community development organizations that best understand the local needs.”

The partnership between LISC and PNC has spanned 30 years. In 2011, PNC funded an expansion of LISC’s commercial redevelopment efforts in three other cities: Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. The entire National LISC network benefits from the services of PNC representatives on local advisory committees of 11 offices. LISC is thankful for PNC’s continued commitment to economic development in Indianapolis and nationwide.
