Flanner House Grant to Improve Healthy Food Options

Last week Flanner House received a $400,000 Health Food Access Grant to support the development of Cleo’s Bodega, a micro-grocery store focused on increasing distribution and consumption of affordable, healthy and organic food in the North West Area neighborhood. The bodega will be housed in the Flanner House Administration Building and will offer fresh meats, vegetables, and packaged foods to the local community and surrounding area of approximately 5,200 households. The project will create eight full-time positions to be filled by residents in the neighborhood through the Flanner House Center for Working Families Program. The bodega is estimated to open in the latter half of 2018.
